Vecka 32-33

Hey, have you heard about…N0V3L | Birthday Cake For Breakfast

Crack Cloud, det kanadensiska kollektivet spelar som nummer 7

Här kommer den nya listan med lite gott och blamdat.

1 Advertisement (US) The talented young Seattle band plays sly and uncommonly melodic odes to ’70s sleaze-rock on its self-released debut. Most punk bands wait until album number three or four before they start dabbling in Crazy Horse sprawl and citing the Grateful Dead as an influence, but Advertisement’s attitude seems to be, why wait? Pitchfork

2 The Chicks (US) Gaslighter is the eighth studio album by American country band the Chicks. It was released on July 17, 2020, by Columbia Records. Produced by Jack Antonoff and the Chicks, it is the group's first album in fourteen years, and first to be released under their new name. Wilipedia

3 Lianna La Havas (UK ) Paring her sound back to little more than her skillful guitar-playing and deep, husky voice, the London songwriter explores the aftermath of a breakup with confidence and repose. is about the singer’s whirlwind relationship with a musician in Los Angeles, and a breakup that spurred a move home to London to piece together the music she’d been working on and take stock of her own personal growth. Pitchfork

4 The Recreation (UK) I have been a massive fan of The Recreation for just over a year now. On the 3rd July they released a six track EP called “For Tessa, With Affection, April ’76”. The Oldham band have quickly made a name from themselves over the past few years The music files

5 Pretenders (UK) Chrissie Hynde brings back some old bandmates for a brisk record that acknowledges The Pretenders are best when they’re direct and unadorned. Pitchfork

6 Snowgoose (UK-Sco) Sheard and McCulloch are joined by an impressive array of musicians drawn from McCulloch’s friends in Glasgow’s music scene: Raymond McGinley of Teenage Fanclub on guitar, Dave McGowan (Belle and Sebastian) on bass, Stuart Kidd (The Wellgreen) on drums and Chris Geddes (Belle & Sebastian) on keys, with Davie Scott of The Pearlfishers providing string arrangements.Louderthanwar

7 Crack Cloud (CAN) The Canadian collective’s debut album feels like an extension of their invaluable work as support workers on the frontline in the fight against their country’s opioid crisis. Largely meeting through addiction recovery programmes in their hometown of Vancouver, the collective – many of whom, including singer and unofficial leader Zach Choy, openly identify as former addicts themselves – have now turned their attention to prevention, working in harm reduction programmes. NME

8  Mike Polizze (US) The Philadelphia indie-rock scene that coalesced around Fishtown clubs like Johnny Brenda’s and Kung Fu Necktie in the mid-‘00s generated an abundance of excellent guitar bands. The War on Drugs and Kurt Vile and the Violators have gained the widest recognition, around the country and the world. Mike Polizze has played a central role. Shortly after moving to Fishtown from Delaware County in 2004, he began playing with Birds of Maya, a psych-rock three-piece with whom he established himself as a guitar shredder par excellence. 9 My Morning Jacket (US) Typically an album ends with such an epiphany, but The Waterfall II opens with that declaration and carries it through nine more songs. If its predecessor was about conflict and healing—it's My Morning Jacket's thorniest album, emotionally speaking—then this follow-up is more about what comes after that healing. Pitchfork

10 Taylor Swift (US) – love and loss in lockdown. Swift`s surprise eighth album, Folklore, takes 16 complex and intriguing tunes by pop’s reigning colossus and gussies them up in atmospherics acceptable to the mature indie rock listener. Gone are the brash production values, the musical pugilism that codes Swift as “pop”. Gone are the trademark valedictory shouts at the end of her songs. In their place are tunes that exhibit a desire to be taken seriously by a different demographic, one whose delicate sensibilities are more responsive to ruminative thrums and just-so orchestrations.
