Den lovande tjejtrion Fire In Her Eyes är nr 7 |
1 Pet Shop Boys (UK) Synth-pop stalwarts the Pet
Shop Boys unveiled
an infectious new rug-cutter, “Monkey Business,” set to appear on their
upcoming album, Hotspot, out January 24th. The track finds the duo
fusing their classic synth sound with elements that seem expertly sourced from
a vintage Giorgio Moroder disco track: a thumping four-on-the-floor, dramatic
string swipes, lush horns and — for good measure — vocoder-laced vocals. The
lyrics boast a delightful energy as well, with Neil Tennant singing, “Bring me
margaritas/Champagne and red wine/We’re gonna have a party/Where we all cross
the line/I’m looking for monkey business.”

2 Darlingside (US) turn a critical eye to our current social and
political moment. What's become a rarity during this time, though, is
apocalyptic art without an overt political agenda.Boston quartet Darlingside manage exactly that on their new album, Extralife, a sumptuous set of harmony-heavy songs that, like an
impressionist painting, conjures the feeling and texture of end times while
leaving plenty of space for the listener to decide just what such an event
would actually look like. NPR
3 The Futureheads (UK) The Sunderland four-piece announced their return
to action earlier this year. The
Sunderland four-piece ended their hiatus in January as they
told fans that they’d been working on their upcoming sixth studio album – their
first since 2012’s ‘Rant’.
A slew of comeback tour dates have also been announced. With their first live
show set to take place tomorrow night (May 3) at the opening party of
Newcastle’s new music festival Hit The North, The Futureheads have now released
the single ‘Jekyll’ – their first new song since 2012. NME
4 Travis (UK) In the year
that has seen the band celebrate the 20th anniversary
of their breakthrough year, Travis have released their captivating new single
‘Kissing In The Wind’. The track, which was premiered on the Radio 2
Breakfast Show, is the band’s first new music since 2016. Ventsmagazine
5 Pixies (UK) Arguably their greatest work in 28 years, this
otherworldly album filters present-day tribulations through the band's witchy,
psychedelic prism. Steeped in their
idiosyncrasies, this is the most comfortably confident that Pixies have sounded
in years. With Francis’ hallucinogenic world growing more widescreen, Joey
Santiago’s fretwork is wizardly and wonderful, while the basslines and backing
vocals of Paz Lenchantin now feel intrinsically threaded through Pixies’ DNA. NME
6 Lil Nas X, Billy Ray
Cyrus (US) "Old Town Road" is a song by American
rapper Lil Nas X, first released independently in December of 2018.
After gaining popularity, the single was re-released by major label Columbia Records in March of 2019, which now distributes the
single. Lil Nas X also recorded a remix with American country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, which was released on April 5, 2019. Both the
original and remix were included on Lil Nas X's debut EP, 7 (2019).The song has been widely labeled as
"country rap", a genre that had only become mainstream a year
prior to release. eventually peaked at number one on the flagship Billboard chart,
the Hot 100, for a record-breaking nineteen consecutive weeks. Wikipedia
7 Fire In Her Eyes
(UK) London trio Fire In Her Eyes are more than just a band.
The three-piece also act as a production house, where they create psychedelia
inspired visuals to compliment their catalogue of vibezy tunes. Represented by
an Eye of Horus sitting pretty over a trippy background, the soul of Fire In
Her Eyes’s music is the way the three girls (Gabrielle plus sisters Natasha and
Daniella) angelically harmonize over their pop sounds reminiscent of the
swinging 60s and soulful 70s. The indie queens are sure to continue building a
strong fanbase should they keep pushing forwards and continuing to carve out
their gorgeous niche sound. Shebops.net
Elbow have released one
of the most strident tracks from their forthcoming eighth studio album, Giants Of All Sizes. ‘White
Noise White Heat’ sees elbow at their most musically and lyrically direct in
some time, drawing on the darker themes and more strident tones that marked out
much of their debut, Asleep
In The Back . Udiscovermusic.com
9 Hot Chip (UK) A Bath Full of Ecstasy is the seventh
studio album by English synth-pop group Hot Chip. Wiki Will Hodgkinson of The Times called A
Bath Full of Ecstasy "as warm and appealing as its title suggests".
He said the album would be merely escapist if "not for the melancholic
undertow of the melodies and the empathy of the lyrics, making this beautiful
album a summer soundtrack with depth".
10 Kaprekar´s Constant (UK) If you only ever thought Kaprekar’s Constant was a hoary old mathematics problem, think again. The album is virtually bookended by the epic Rosherville Parts I & II. This song will probably gain most attention as it contains a concluding poem recited inimitably by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. Such an esteemed contribution underlines the folk-rock lineage of Kaprekar’s Constant and underlines their quality as their music clearly persuaded such ‘Prog Royalty’ to contribute to their project.

Usch!
SvaraRadera2. Darlingside 3p Helt OK
3. The Futureheads 3p Borde gilla denna lite spretiga låt, men förblir ganska oberörd.
4. Travis 4p Ja, detta var bra. Lite Sufjan Stevens på sången.
5. Pixies 4p Jodå, de håller fortfarande. Kul.
7. Fire in her Eyes 5p Lite jäv här ;) Lyssnade på denna härliga Londontrio i december och pratade med tjejerna efter spelningen och har även intervjuat dem här. Ännu bättre live, faktiskt.
8. Elbow 5p Ett av mina absoluta nutida favoritband. Megastora i England. Väl värda att kolla in.

6: Lil Naz: 2. Rednex med slö-rap. Jag blir het.
7. Fire in her eyes: 4. Småtråkig produktion, men lovande trio.
