Amyl & The Sniffers

1 Amyl and the Sniffers (AUS) The Aussie rockers’ unabashed fetishization of 1970s staples like punk, glam, and their country’s sharpie scene only helps fuel the invigorating rush of their music. It’s entirely justified to find Amyl and the Sniffers annoying just on the basis that the Melbourne punk quartet romanticizes the dirtbag 1970s to a degree that’s cartoonish. Too young to have experienced Dookie firsthand, let alone Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols, Amyl and the Sniffers are blessed by the callous disregard of youth, adopting ratty mullets and tacky high-waisted jeans Pitchfork

2 Vampire Weekend (US) return with a shaggy, sprawling double album all about rebirth, contentment, and the reclamation of light. the band has lived inside a pregnant pause. Now we have Father of the Bride—a looser, broader album than Modern Vampires, the great sigh after a long holding of breath. There are still moments of conflict, but in general, you get the sense the band is just relieved to have run the gauntlet of their existential doubts and come out relatively unscathed, grateful to be here. Pitchfork

3 The National (US) Ny singel och nytt album “I am easy to find”.  Lyssna här på Quiet Light  https://youtu.be/JXhWOOlmYuU

4 Versus (US) Throughout a very productive run that spanned the entire 1990s, New York City's Versus delivered multiple albums and singles of noisy, guitar-driven indie pop that matured into something more jangly and subdued by the time their fourth album, Hurrah, arrived in 2000. The band take what feel like natural steps forward both musically and conceptually, with more adventurous production and some of the most confident melodies of their career. Though it may be an indefinite number of years before the band's next full-length arrives, this sharp EP points to great things from that eventual album. All Music

5 Arms Akimbo (US). Indie rock outfit Arms Akimbo just released their gritty, vibrant EP entitled Seven Dollar Paycheck. The EP narrates the anxiety and apprehension, but also the thrill of taking on an uncertain world while feeling barely armed for reality. Thematically it’s about balancing the craving for creativity with the need for financial stability and assuring yourself you chose the right path. Each day diligently fighting for a dream that may seem out of reach.  The 'arms akimbo' stance generally indicates that combination of impatience and defiance which is these days called 'attitude'  Earmilk

6 Bad Religion (US) It's been awhile since we've heard from Bad Religion, the legendary punk band from southern California. The six-year gap between 2013's True North (and the holiday album Christmas Songsfrom the same year) and their new album, Age of Unreason, is the longest break the band has taken in their four-decade career. But the band is very good at what they do, and Graffin's erudite, clever takes on various issues makes the album significantly more entertaining than reading, say, your progressive-leaning aunt's Twitter feed. Popmatters
7 Zuzu (UK) has released her biting new single 'How It Feels' The Mersey songwriter is blending pop textures into her slacker ethos, it's a vivid, literate piece of guitar music that remains lodged in your head long after the final note dissipates. Clashmusic
8 Richard Hawley (UK) His eighth album sees Hawley ruminate on themes from ageing to solitude, with the guitars turned up loud. The Sheffield singer-songwriter’s lush balladry is as trademark as his quiff and spectacles, and on his eighth solo album he seems to forever find unexpected new themes to inspire him. Off My Mind’s howls of distortion are closer to Oasis (or Hawley’s own Britpop era band, the Longpigs)  The Guardian

9 Peach Fuzz (UK) A soaring psych pop gem full of sparkle and synth romance. Yet another special Skeleton Key find. For fans of: The War On Drugs, The Maccabees, Blossoms, The Coral, Fuzzy Sun.

10 Starbenders (US) It's such a wonderful thing when a new band pops up that is so exciting, so impossible to ignore, that not only do they stand out from the pack, they positively leap out of it and hang off of your ears. Atlanta's Starbenders did exactly that. Albumofthe week

  1. Mest ”vanlig” rock denna gång. Men inget fel i det 

    1. Amyl & The Sniffers 4p Gött ös. Mycket 70-tals poppunk. Blir glad av detta.

    2. Vampire Weekend 4p En stark comeback för bandet som påminner om Paul Simon eller Simon & Garfunkel.

    3. The National 4p Jodå. Det är OK även om jag inte är en stor National-fan.

    4. Versus 4p Inte så olikt The National ovan och minst lika bra.

5.Arms Akimbo 4p Helt OK vokal- och gitarrpop

  2. 1. Amyl & The Sniffers 4p Gött ös.

    6. Bad Religion 4p

    7. Zuzu 4p

    8. Richard Hawley 4p

    9. Peach Fuzz 3p

    10. Starbenders 4p
