Vera Sola

1 Greg Hawks (US)  is an American musician best known as the keyboardist for the rock band The Cars. interviewed about the title song I think it’s time:  I wanted to write a personal meditation—something that might inspire a feeling of inner quiet, calm, and reflection in the listener. My goal was to make the song to make you feel the way you do when you’re taking a walk in the woods, or standing on an empty beach, or sitting on your rooftop and listening to the wind. We spend so much of our lives either regretting something that has already happened or worrying about what the future holds. It’s something that I’ve struggled with a lot. Blasted.com

2 Whispering Sons (BEL) Whispering Sons are a 5 piece band from Brussels who blend ominous atmospheric sounds with a deep, new age drive, and they happen to be releasing their debut album Image. The debut album “Image” opens with “Stalemate”, which blends a Joy Division-esque bassline and energy with modern psych-punk. One thing that is apparent straight off the bat is that each member of this band knows their role perfectly within the song. “No Time” is next, which is another slow builder until a melodic bassline comes in to flow around the industrial sounding drums and odd timings. 3 Vera Sola  (US) (bild ovan) Danielle Aykroyd is Vera Sola; a poet, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. A self-described drifter, Aykroyd has worked on a number of projects over the years with other artists; including touring with singer-songwriter Elvis Perkins, writing film scores, and creating music for theater productions and performance art pieces. When she did perform solo; she donned a pseudonym and chose dimly-lit settings where she could remain anonymous. But in 2017, something shifted. Assured of her own vocal and instrumental abilities, Aykroyd was suddenly compelled to record and perform her own music. Her debut album is called "Shades". OBS! Danielle is daughter to Dan Aykroid.

4 The Kryng (NL) Out of nowhere comes The Kryng! Three jinxed no-good guys with an insatiable appetite for great popsongs. On bass there’s Peter Kroes (The Keefmen, Low Point Drains) and on drums there’s Arjan Spies (Mark & the Spies, The Kik), but their ace in the hole is singer/guitarist Mark ten Hoor (The No-Goods), a craftsman extraordinair when it comes to writing catchy and powerful songs.
Take a wholelotta 60’s garagepop, some 70’s punk, a handful of 90's indie-grunge-rock and mix them together and there you have it: The Kryng!
5 The Nightingales (UK) Perish the thought är bandets 10:e album. They are a UK post-punk/alternative rock band formed in 1979 in BirminghamEngland by four members of Birmingham's original punk group The Prefects who had been part of The Clash's 'White Riot Tour', recorded a couple of Peel Sessions, released a 45 on Rough Trade and, years after splitting up, had a retrospective CD released by New York indie label Acute Records. Described in John Robb's definitive book on 'post punk' Death To Trad Rock as "The misfits' misfits" and comprising an ever-fluctuating line up, based around lyricist/singer Robert Lloyd, the Nightingales enjoyed cult status in the early '80s as darlings of the credible music scene and were championed by John Peel, who said of them – "Their performances will serve to confirm their excellence when we are far enough distanced from the 1980s to look at the period rationally and other, infinitely better known, bands stand revealed as charlatans". Wiki. This band still rock like Captain Beefheart and the Velvet Underground It’s difficult to explain them. Louderthanwar
6 Richard Swift (US) On the final and best album from the acclaimed producer and overlooked singer/songwriter, a new intensity and urgency line even the most upbeat songs.  The Hex, the final album Swift completed before he died from causes related to alcohol addiction, is no different in its grim scope: He’s said goodbye to us before, but it’s rarely felt so definitive. Here is some sprawling psych-pop (“Broken Finger Blues”).  Pitchfork

7 Blue Orchids (UK) Manchester underdogs lead by Martin Bramah release yet another work of under-stated, under-rated, under the radar genius says Ged Babey as he enters the hip priesthood and Castle Perilous. This is a fucking brilliant album! You must excuse me I’m not used to being taken seriously  I blame Joy Division.  Good band but humourless and too serious. Blue Orchids should have been and should be as lauded and loved by as many people as they are. Like their splinter-band the Fall, from my southern perspective Blue Orchids seemed to personify Manchester, or to be more specific, Salford and it’s matchstick people: the dry humour, the drugs, arty pretensions, musical ambition and single-mindedness.
About the song Get Brahma: A riff on Get Carter and a great faux movie theme played by a funky garage band.

GAFFA

9 Dylan Mondegreen (NOR)  the new single by Norwegian singer songwriter 'Børge Sildnes', who has written under the 'Dylan Mondegreen' pseudonym for many years now. 'A Place in the Sun' is his new single, and it's taken from his 5th album, a process which started with his 2007 release 'While I Walk You Home' through to his last 'Every Little Step' album which was offered 2 years ago. 10 Cloud Nothings (UK)  Jaded, nihilistic, and heavy: Dylan Baldi leads his band into one of the most self-immolating and intense albums of his career. As always, Baldi is one of indie rock’s great sloganeers, a lyricist with a gift for mantras that read like they’ve been inked across two fists. It begins with “Dissolution”, an 11-minute centerpiece that evolves from a desperate plea into a slow-moving yet focused meditation before erupting into unhinged mayhem. COS /Pitchfork

2 Whispering Sons 5p Mycket bra belgisk post-punk.
