The Weather Station från Canada spelar på sång nr 1. |
1. The Weather
Station (CAN) is a Canadian folk music band fronted by Tamara Lindeman, formed in 2006. he fourth album from
Tara Lindeman aka The Weather Station is this
year’s most remarkable feat of songwriting. It shares a commonality with the
greats. Lindeman is an orator of life, one that is so superb that she is beyond
it, while simultaneously being embodied within its light, colours, joy.
Although Lindeman is often compared to fellow Canadian Joni Mitchell, their
methods are incomparable. While
Mitchell proverbialises complexity, Lindeman makes it stark. DrownedinSound
2.The Church
(Au) After the release of 2014's Further/Deeper, Australia's the Church spent much of the next three years touring, splitting
their live set between new songs and revisiting tracks off their 1982 sophomore
effort The Blurred Crusade. It was also a period that introduced fans to new member,
former Powderfingerguitarist Ian Haug, who stepped in after the departure of Marty Wilson-Piper in 2013. It was in this spirit of balancing the old and
the new, the past and the future, that they recorded their expansive 25th
studio date, 2017's astral-tinged Man Woman Life Death Infinity. AllMusic.com
3. Pere Ubu
(US) 20 Years in a Montana
Missile Silo does not share the same dark, exploratory sense of its
predecessor, Carnivals of Souls. The
tone is vibrant, and there is something electrifying about Pere Ubu when the
band explores the standard rock form and interprets it through hooking choruses
and bombastic verses, as they appear in “Funk 49”. PopMatters
4. Linda
Perhacs (US) Like her 2014 comeback
record, the new album from psych-folk artist Linda Perhacs features
collaborations with Julia Holter and electronic touches, expanding the borders
of her sound. After releasing her 1970 debut Parallelograms—which for decades
was her only album—Perhacs became a sort of vanished flower child for the
folk/psych collector set. I’m a
Harmony is her first record in three years. Pitchfork
5. St Vincent
(US) Los Angeles tends to inspire two types of songs: reverential tributes to the city’s beauty, glamour, and opportunity and sour critiques of its vanity. File Annie Clark’s nod to her adopted home in that latter category. Unlike her recent St. Vincent single “New York,” a tender ballad
flushed with admiration for a city that refuses to meet you halfway. Pitchfork
6. Loney Dear
(SWE) Allt Loney Dear gör föds ur de starkaste av känslor. ”Dark was the night, cold was the
ground/And now I give you everything I own”. Loney Dear, eller Emil
Svanängen som han egentligen heter, inleder sitt
självbetitlade album med dessa rader. I
lysande ”Humbug” möts de ljuvliga stråkarna av dansande rytmer samtidigt
som trollbindande syntriff och basslingor vävs samman. Aftonbladet
7. Lunatic
Soul (Pol) Lunatic Soul is Mariusz
Duda. Best known for the part he plays in Polish progressive groundbreakers
Riverside. His fifth album in this guise is different…yet familiar. Duda has talked about
Fractured as the most original album he’s made and the most accessible of the
five LS albums. louderthanwar
8. Marilyn
Manson (US) Marilyn Manson is officially back to wreak havoc on what remains of
this sick, sad world. The iconic rock star has unleashed a raunchy music video
for "We Know Where You Fucking Live" and it's as dark and demented as
fans would expect. The visual follows a troop of leather-clad nuns carrying
around guns in a hopeless suburb.

9. New Candys (Ita) Venetians New Candys were formed in 2008 and have gone from strength to
strength, increasing their popularity and appeal with every rotation of the sun. Bleeding
Magenta offers a collection of finely tuned sounds, blended
into a heady mixture of sinewy psychedelic rock creating brooding,
other-worldly soundscapes, with just a sprinkling of hazy fine tuned
sensibility thrown in for good measure. backseatmafia
10. Four Tet
(UK) Kieran Hebden’s
pursuit of new sounds has found him digging into his own catalog. New Energy is a
wide-ranging album that connects the warmth of his early work to his latest
club experiments. With his legacy as
one of the 21st-century’s finest electronic musicians all but assured, Hebden
has become more of a populist, making few distinctions between working with Burial or Skrillex, Terror Danjah or Rihanna. Pitchfork

om två
bortglömda sångerskor, Vashti Bunyan (underbar) o Linda P
