The Creases inleder denna lista

Så var det dags för en ny lista. Några välkända namn som The National,
LCD Soundsystem och Grizzly Bear samt Hiss Golden Messenger. Den
senare har jag lobbat för många gånger, men utan något större resultat ;)
Thee Oh Sees såg jag nyligen på Way Out West och de var en trevlig be-
kantskap live med sina dubbeltrummisar. Jack Cooper från Ultimate Painting
har gjort en soloskiva. Och så en del nyare artister också, som The Creases
som inleder listan med sin fina powerpoplåt.

1 The Creases (Au) How can a song be anthemic if no one’s ever heard it before? The Creases answer that question in their stunning debut album Tremolow. While there’s been a lot of hype around this beloved Brisbane band since they formed four years ago, they waited until now to release their LP. One of the reasons was they kept writing better and better songs. And boy, was it worth the wait. This is a collection of songs so solidly constructed they couldn’t fall over if pushed. The Aureview

2 The Clientele (UK) British indie rockers The Clientele announced the end of their seven-year absence with a new album, Music for the Age of Miracles, out in September. Now, the band has released a new song and music video called “Everyone You Meet.” The song is a sweet, reflective, string-infused pop tune, and all the footage for the video appears as though it was shot on Super 8 film. Spin.com

3 LCD Soundsystem  (US)  James Murphy is back. The rebirth of LCD Soundsystem is marked by an extraordinary album obsessed with endings: of friendships, of love, of heroes, of a certain type of geeky fandom, and of the American dream itself. Pitchfork

4 The National (US) The National will finally, at long last, release their new album Sleep Well Beast next week. (It’s great. We just ran a big feature on it.) But first, they’re sharing one more advance track, the gorgeous and uptempo future classic “Day I Die.”  Stereogum

5 Boo Seka (Au) Australian Indie electronic sweethearts Boo Seeka impress with their pleasing debut, “Never Too Soon”. Wielding a consistent and enjoyable 11-track album and an impressive touring schedule (click artwork below for more details), Boo Seeka confirm their status as bonafide Australian touring veterans.  Acidstag.com

6 Gentlemen and Scholars (US) vocalist/guitarist Jeremiah Galey, guitarist Patrick Brady, bassist Shane Strickland, and drummer Marco Vaughn – is a rock ‘n’ roll band born and bred in southern Indiana. They released their first album The Record, the Keepsake, and the Thief independently in 2008 and have since released another three studio albums:

7 Hiss Golden Messenger (US) M.C. Taylor will return with his second Hiss Golden Messenger album in under a year, Hallelujah Anyhow,  “Domino” is “an acknowledgment that what I do for a living is, on its face, funny,”  “But this life has a pull for me; traveling for a living has been existentially good. It’s hard, and hard things are good, I think.” “Domino (Time Will Tell)” is a swinging number bolstered by horns and a peppy bit of guitar slide work. COS

8 Jack Cooper (UK) of Ultimate Painting’s first solo record - is nine concisely beautiful songs inspired by his hometown of Blackpool and his upbringing on England’s Fylde Coast. Troublemindrecords

9 Thee Oh Sees (US) The West Coast psych rock veterans led by John Dwyer have hardly changing their modus operandi on their 19th album. Instead, they have refined and tweaked their mind-blowing sound thanks to plenty of touring. “Nite Expo” passes the band return to cracking skulls on “Animated Violence”. Dwyer double tracks his guitars to match the double-trouble drummers as they march forward. Thelineofbestfit

10 Grizzly Bear (US) There’s a magnificent insularity in Grizzly Bear’s music on its fifth full-length album, “Painted Ruins.” The band shows the concentration of craftsmen who delight in intricacy and a willingness to sling strictly private allusions, expecting that listeners will engage with layers of convolution. Yet Grizzly Bear doesn’t stint on more extroverted (if slightly old-fashioned) pleasures like curvaceous melodies, plush harmonies and sweeping buildups, along with glimpses of heartache and echoes of a more sumptuous, more optimistic pop past.
