Les Bains III & The Glory Fires

1. HAIM (US)   it’s because HAIM are at their best when everyone’s involved vocally or that we like our HAIM a little on the rock and roll side or that it’s just a straight-up addicting summer jam … there are many reasons. But really, it’s mostly because it just feels good. It’s like … well, you know how THC is often extracted from weed to make fun things like pot brownies and pot tea? Yeah, it’s like that, only the weed is maybe an ’80s pop rock compilation and the THC is whatever brilliant energy fuels this little pot brownie of a song…  COS

2. Les Bains III & The Glory Fires (US) Youth Detention är detta Alabamabands andra album. "Underneath The Sheets Of White Noise" is a barnburner lit from Hüsker Dü's frantic fuse and exploded by Drive-By Truckers' fervor. Nervous feedback squeals underneath fast power chords, faster clipped drums and Bains' nasal twang, recklessly speeding through a dirt track of cable news networks who don't get the complexity of the Southern thing. NPR

3. Chris Forsyth & Solar Motel Band (US) The Philadelphia-based quartet, which the guitarist Chris Forsyth has led since 2013, draws its core inspiration from the more transcendent guitar music of the 1970s. Their largely instrumental music sounds at once meticulously composed and entirely spontaneous, the product of some miracle jam session with no bum notes or wasted moments.

4. This is the Kit (UK) he starting point for "Moonshine Freeze," the lead single from Bristol-Paris folk band This Is The Kit's forthcoming Rough Trade debut of the same name, was a children's clapping game that got stuck in lead songwriter Kate Stables' head. The rules are simple; repeat the word "moonshine" three times, then freeze. "It seemed like some kind of powerful magic spell," Stables tells NPR. "That's woven in there, with ideas about change — how we deal with change and how we relate and live with other people in different situations, how we see and experience things differently at different times, how different numbers can dramatically change a group's dynamic."  NPR

5. Daniel O’Sullivan  (UK) Incantations and idiosyncrasy from sonic speculator Daniel O'Sullivan, one half or Grumbling Fur. Partly inspired by Ray Bradbury’s 1950 short story The Veldt, which forecast the potential dangers of virtual reality, O’Sullivan’s new solo album similarly conjures up a universe where nothing is quite as it first appears. 6. Circle (Fi) Genre-defying Finnish Gonzo-Krautpsychhardrockers Circle now sound as colossal on record as on stage. Above all else, Terminal is an exhilarating exercise in total riff worship. And what riffs they are. Above all else, Terminal is an exhilarating exercise in total riff worship. And what riffs they are.  Thelineofbestfit

7. Cende (US) Born in the apartments of a Brooklyn music venue they put out an eponymous EP as Cende in 2016. A year later, wielding the title #1 Hit Single, their full-length debut finds a young band sounding fully formed. Rather than seeming to ride a musical trend or resurrect a beloved style (the group formed after members discovered a shared fondness for punk band the Marked Men), they seem to cull from the best of the broader category of melodic rock spanning the '60s to the 2010s.  AllMusic

8. Alvvays (CAN)   Nearly three years after releasing their self-titled debut album, the Toronto indie-pop band Alvvays have resurfaced just in time to soundtrack your summer bummer. Like the songs on that record, “In Undertow,” the lead single from their upcoming album Antisocialites, radiates sunshine, but singer Molly Rankin is still most comfortable lurking in the shadows it casts.“In Undertow” is a breakup song, albeit one set in the moment when the tears have started to dry out and the voice begins to calm after all the fighting and the shouting. Pitchfork

9. Algiers (US) Gospel, punk, and noise fuse together for Algiers’ ambitious and chaotic second album. The songs burn with anger and grief, The reference points and influences for the album are vast and varied. The Black Panthers and Fred Hampton, Che Guevara, Camus’ The Plague, T.S. Eliot, Italian zombie exploitation flicks and horror film disco. “Cleveland,” which samples Rev. James Cleveland’s gospel staple “Peace Be Still” and is supposed to invoke the memory of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was gunned down by Cleveland police in 2014, though he's never mentioned by name. Pitchfork

10. Floating Points (UK ) On June 30th, electronic music producer Sam Shepherd, aka Floating Points, will return with Reflections — Mojave Desert, a new short film and soundtrack project. The follow-up to 2015’s Elaenia came to fruition during a trip to the Mojave last summer. “Whilst we were out playing and exploring the area around us – the sound reflecting from the rocks, the sound of the wind between them, complete stillness at night and packs of roaming coyotes in the distance, it became apparent that we could use this as its own unique recording environment,” Shepherd explained. COS

  2. 1. HAIM 4p Härlig sommarpop. Som en blandning av Cyndy Lauper + Bangles

    2. Lee Baines III & The Glory Fires 5p Påminner mycket om R.E.M. under sin tidiga glansperiod på 80-talet. Sången ligger också så där i bakgrunden. Liknar "It's the end of the world and we know it".

    3. Chris Forsyth 4p Bra musik helt enkelt med kompetenta musiker. Säkert ännu bättre live. Nästan en femma.

    4. This is the kit 4p Har det inte kommit väldigt många unga sångtjejer den sista tiden. Här är en till.

    5. Daniel O'Sullivan 5p Fint. I klass med hans ordinarie band Grumbling Fur.

    1. Haim 4. Låter som Cindy Laupers, vilket höjer
    2. Lee Baines 4p. Inte helt oävet för min rocktrötta medelåldersöron
    3. Chris Forsyth 2p
    4. This is kit 3p
    5. Daniel O Sullivan 5p
    6. Circle 2
    7.Cendre 4
9.Algiers 5p det bästa politiska rockbandet sedan The Clash. Jag överdriver absolut inte.
10 Floting point, 5p är i princip likgiltigt inför all instrumentalmusik.
