| Tyla Gang när det begav sig för lääänge sen |
Har just varit i kontakt med Sean Tyla och han meddelar till min stora glädje att Sean kommer till Sverige med Tyla Gang i mars. En ny skiva är på gång också. Fantastiskt!! Inte nog med det, Ducks Deluxe kommer hit igen redan i maj. De gjorde en bejublad turnévända här så sent som i somras.
Så vill jag citera Sean, som skriver lite allmänt om detta med turnerandets ekonomiska vedermödor. Det är tuffa tag om man inte heter U2, Lady Gaga eller liknande arenagiganter.

was 18 months ago that we put the final touches to the new Tyla Gang
album. In essence, we'd probably all like to be out on the road all year
round. Unfortunately, that's impractical.
Bruce Irvine lives in Canada and he has several other commitments, as we all do. We originally intended to tour with Rush this year, as we had 35 years ago but that didn't happen for one reason or another. It's probably going to be a bi-annual event as far as Europe is concerned with the lack of venues to play in where you actually get paid a fee.
These are rare nowadays, as they have become in the US too. The problem is simple to explain; nobody can afford to take a risk. If you play the Rockhalle in Mönchen-Dingdong or The Snakepit in Smalltown, USA for say, a $3000 fee and no-one shows, the promoter will never book you again. In addition, he's going to start dropping his guarantees to every band over time, regardless of stature.
What you end up with is this. A. You take a small guarantee that barely covers your fuel and hotels against a percentage of the door or, B. You promote the gig yourself and risk ending up with nothing. Option A has become the norm for most artists on the club circuits throughout Europe and the US now. Option B has a high risk factor and only seriously well-established acts can afford to go that route. It costs @£1000 a day to put the Tyla Gang, [or any band I play in for that matter] on the road, anywhere in Europe or Scandinavia.
So, we have to pick our venues carefully and make sure we don't overexpose the band at the same time. Anyway, we have just about finalised a tour of Scandinavia and the UK for March 2013 but we shall be releasing a single sometime in November 2012 followed by the full album in March 2013."
